Force FSCK on reboot

To force a unix system to do a disk check using FSCK on reboot you need to do the following.

su to root:
$ su –

Change directory to root (/) directory:
# cd /

Create a file called forcefsck:
# touch /forcefsck

Now reboot the system:
# reboot
