Disabling the Mac Boot / Start up Chime Sound

A) Mute sound before shutting down.
B) Run the following command in Terminal
sudo nvram SystemAudioVolume=%80
c) To turn it back on again, run this command in terminal,
sudo nvram SystemAudioVolume=%01
