I was recently researching how to run an application in Vista with higher privileges, without having it prompt me with the “are you sure” message.
The best I could find was this work around that basically involves setting up a scheduled task, which you can set to run with higher privileges, then making a shortcut to run that scheduled task. I thought that sounded a bit fiddley, but it did give me an idea on how to fix my problem.
What I was trying to do was run SpeedFan at login. It doesn’t work properly unless it runs with admin rights so just putting it in the start up group didn’t work and checking ‘run as administartor’ got annoying.
What I was able to do was create a scheduled task that runs when I logon and set it to run with higher privileges. I also had to add a delay of 1 minute to allow a few other things to start up. Other wise it seemed to be starting OK, but I couldn’t see the temp icon that was meant to be on the task bar.
